Former Greenlawn Water Commissioner William Wieck has passed away. When the long time Greenlawn Water Commissioner’s term ended in 2017, he left in place a legacy of public safety, fiscal control, water supply protection…and 26 years of meeting the needs of an expanding population.

A proud US Army veteran, ex-chief of the Greenlawn Fire Department and Past President of Huntington Fire Chiefs Council, Bill shepherded the cost-effective refurbishment of Greenlawn Water District infrastructure through a dedicated preventive maintenance program that began in 1992. The NSWCA sends its deepest sympathies to Bill’s family, friends and professional associates. He will be greatly missed.

Notice of the 2023 meetings schedule and changes or cancellations will be published in the Long Islander, and posted at Commack, Harborfields and Elwood Libraries. In addition, the meeting schedule will be posted on the Town of Huntington and Greenlawn Water District websites.”

Commissioner McLaughlin Re-elected
In an election that featured a near record turnout, Commissioner John T. McLaughlin was re-elected to a new three-year term as Commissioner. Mr. McLaughlin, who has served the Greenlawn Water District as Commissioner since 1996, prevailed with 255 votes. His new term begins on January 1, 2023 and runs through December 31, 2025.
Please be advised that the Board of Elections of the Greenlawn Water District shall meet on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, for the purpose of preparing the rolls of registered voters of the Greenlawn Water District.
The annual election of the Greenlawn Water District will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022, between the hours of 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY.
Please note that in 2022, as per the Board of Elections rules and regulations, only those persons who have registered with the County Board of Elections on or before the 23rd day before the Water District Election Day shall be eligible to vote. In 2022, such registration must take place on or before November 18, 2022.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Annual Election of the Greenlawn Water District will take place on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Greenlawn Water District office located at 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, for the purpose of electing one Commissioner for a three-year term, commencing on January 1, 2023 and ending on December 31, 2025. All duly registered residents of the Greenlawn Water District shall be eligible to vote.
