NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District, at an organizational meeting thereof at the Water District Office on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, duly adopted a resolution, an abstract of which is as follows:  “AND, WHEREAS, a regular schedule of meetings of the Greenlawn Water District shall be established by the Board of Commissioners; and RESOLVED that all regular meetings will be held at the District Offices (45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY) at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays. Notice of the 2024 meetings schedule and changes or cancellations will be published in the Long Islander, and posted at Commack, Harborfields and Elwood Libraries.  In addition, the meeting schedule will be posted on the Town of Huntington and Greenlawn Water District websites.”

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District will hold a public hearing to be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, New York, to consider adoption of a resolution approving and thereafter enacting the real property tax exemptions authorized under Chapter 670 of the Laws of 2022. Newly amended Section 466-a of the Real Property Tax Law allows a partial (10%) exemption on real property taxes imposed by the Greenlawn Water District for qualifying volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers who reside within the Greenlawn Water District.

NOTICE OF PREPARATION OF REGISTRATION ROLLS FOR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE  GREENLAWN WATER DISTRICT

Please be advised that the Board of Elections of the Greenlawn Water District shall meet on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, for the purpose of preparing the rolls of registered voters of the Greenlawn Water District.

The annual election of the Greenlawn Water District will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023, between the hours of 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY.

Please note that in 2023, as per the Board of Elections rules and regulations, only those persons who have registered with the County Board of Elections on or before the 23^rd day before the Water District Election Day shall be eligible to vote.  In 2023, such registration must take place on or before November 17, 2023.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Annual Election of the Greenlawn Water District will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Greenlawn Water District office located at 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, for the purpose of electing one Commissioner for a three-year term, commencing on January 1, 2024 and ending on December 31, 2026.  All duly registered residents of the Greenlawn Water District shall be eligible to vote.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District has scheduled a Special Meeting to be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY 11740.  Upon the opening of the meeting, the Board of Commissioners will convene into executive session.  Upon the conclusion of the executive session the Board of Commissioners will reconvene in public session and conduct such public business as may be permitted by law.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District will hold a public hearing at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023.  The purpose of the hearing is to consider the proposed budget of estimated expenses and revenues of the Greenlawn Water District for the calendar year commencing January 1, 2024. A copy of the proposed budget will be made available for public inspection between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, and will be posted for review on the District’s website.

All persons interested will be given an opportunity to present comments at said public hearing.

Notice of Annual Election of Water Commissioner of the Greenlawn Water District

Notice is hereby given, that the Annual Election for the Office of Commissioner of the Greenlawn Water District will be held at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 for the purpose of electing one (1) Commissioner for a term of three (3) years.  Said polling place is located within the Greenlawn Water District in the Town of Huntington, County of Suffolk, State of New York.  Polls will be open from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on that date.

Petitions of Candidates must:

1. Be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters on a form which must be secured at the District office. ONLY PETITIONS ON THIS FORM WILL BE ACCEPTED.
2. Be filed with the Board of Commissioners at the District office by 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2023.

To be eligible to vote, a person must:

1. Be a citizen of the United States.
2. Be at least 18 years of age.
3. Reside within the District at least 30 days prior to said election date.
4. Be a registered voter under the Suffolk County Permanent Registration on or before November 17, 2023.
