Sealed bids will be received by the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, New York, until Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 9:00 AM prevailing time when they will be publicly opened for a 2008 Ford F150 Pick Up.

Minimum bid is $3,000.00.

Sealed bids will be received by the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, New York, until Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 9:00 AM prevailing time when they will be publicly opened for a 2009 Ford F150 Pick Up.

Minimum bid is $3,000.00.

The Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to award to the highest responsible bidder who in their judgment submits the most advantageous proposal to benefit the District and is pursuant to Section 103 of General Municipal Law.

Trucks to be sold in “as is” condition.  Name, address, phone number of bidder and shall appear on the envelope containing the sealed bid. The envelope must also specify the make and model of truck being bid on (“2008 Ford F150” or “2009 Ford F150”).

Trucks may be inspected October 7, 2022 through October 18, 2022 at above address between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Friday.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District will hold a public hearing to be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, New York, to consider entering into a license agreement with DISH Wireless L.L.C., for the use of a portion of the Greenlawn Water District water tower and premises located at its Tank 2 site, East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington, New York, for the purpose of the installation of antennas and associated equipment.

Notice of Annual Election of Water Commissioner of the Greenlawn Water District

Notice is hereby given, that the Annual Election for the Office of Commissioner of the Greenlawn Water District will be held at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 for the purpose of electing one (1) Commissioner for a term of three (3) years.  Said polling place is located within the Greenlawn Water District in the Town of Huntington, County of Suffolk, State of New York.  Polls will be open from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on that date.

Petitions of Candidates must:

  1. Be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters on a form which must be secured at the District office. ONLY PETITIONS ON THIS FORM WILL BE ACCEPTED.
  2. Be filed with the Board of Commissioners at the District office by 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2022.

To be eligible to vote, a person must:

  1. Be a citizen of the United States.
  2. Be at least 18 years of age.
  3. Reside within the District at least 30 days prior to said election date.
  4. Be a registered voter under the Suffolk County Permanent Registration on or before November 18, 2022.

PUBLIC NOTICE GREENLAWN WATER DISTRICT BUDGET HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of the Greenlawn Water District will hold a public hearing at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022.  The purpose of the hearing is to consider the proposed budget of estimated expenses and revenues of the Greenlawn Water District for the calendar year commencing January 1, 2023. A copy of the proposed budget will be made available for public inspection between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Greenlawn Water District office, 45 Railroad Street, Greenlawn, NY, and will be posted for review on the District’s website.

All persons interested will be given an opportunity to present comments at said public hearing.

2022 has been an uncharacteristically dry summer with substantially reduced rainfall…and so the need to reduce usage and conserve water has become a reality. The Greenlawn Water District Board Of Commissioners requests that all customers and consumers observe the following regulations from June 1 through September 15:

1. Water on Appropriate Days:

  • Odd numbered homes and businesses: Irrigate only on odd numbered calendar days.
  • Even numbered homes and businesses: Irrigate only on even numbered calendar days.
  • If you do not have a street number: Water only on odd numbered days.

2. Water Efficiently: Irrigating during the heat of the day causes much of the water to evaporate. For best results and the most efficient watering, we recommend irrigation before 10:00 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m.

3. Follow these great water-saving tips:

  1. Many beautiful groundcovers require less water including lavender, daylilies, forget-me-nots, aloes, marigolds, and zinnias.
  2. Composting enhances water retention and adds nutrients.
  3. Avoid wasting water. Installing spring-loaded shutoff nozzles on garden hoses and slow-drip irrigation systems will help avoid over-watering and save money on water bills.
  4. Don’t overwater lawns. Maintaining grass height at 2 inches requires less water and reduces evaporation.
